Amy Williams

Amy is probably best known as Britain’s gold medal heroine at the Winter Olympic Games in 2010 in Vancouver. Her accomplishment in the Skeleton Bobsleigh led her to become Britain’s first solo Winter Olympics Champion in 30 years and the first female individual Gold Medallist in 58 years.

As well as being obviously talented at Winter Sports, Amy decided to turn her hand to rally driving in 2013, where she was co-driver for Sky Sports News F1 analyst Tony Jardine, qualifying for her international co-driving licence. In November of that year they competed in the international Wales GB rally, placing an impressive 1st in their class and 26th overall, showing that Amy really has the grit and determination to take her wherever she wants to go. Amy re-joined Tony in the rally car in 2016, finishing 39th overall after no preparatory races beforehand, and raising awareness for the 2018 Winter Olympics as she did so.

In 2014 she headed to the Winter Olympics in Sochi as part of the BBC coverage team, covering the Gold Medal win of Lizzy Yarnold with the particular enthusiasm and fervour we have come to know and love from Amy. 2018 will see her at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

Being a regular on BBC’s Ski Sunday, 2014 saw Amy take on ‘The Jump’, coaching the skeleton event, while also being the new host of ‘the Gadget Show’ taking over from Rachel Riley in the same year. Showing that not only can she juggle many roles at once, but that she takes on everything with an eagerness that stems from her competitive nature.

She has a very loving and caring side, from her passion for animals and nature, to her young son Oscar, this mixed with her story of determination to come from nowhere and gain the country such a standing at the Winter Olympics, she has proven her mettle to be a name we will hear for many years to come.
